Itwas one of my big
dreams to see and listen to Alphaville live in concert. Some years ago
I didnt hope that someday my dream come true. So to concert. There were
about 900 people as I later heard from our local radio station. The concert
started a little bit later than it was planned. The audience were calling
towards the stage to make AV start the concert. First the musicians came
onto the stage and they started to play some intro while the stage was
getting full of a smoke. When they started to play the first song (Soul
Messiah) suddenly Marian appeared in the front of the stage. The
following songs were played:
A Victory Of Love
Guardian Angel
Control
Monkey In The Moon
New Horizons
Sounds Like A Melody
Flame
Wishful Thinking
Dance With Me
Forever Young
After they finished
to play the first song, Marian said: "We're finally here". As some of you
know there was another concert planned on 2nd of August 1997 but it was
cancelled because of the flood. Then the concert was moved on 20.9.97 but
it was also cancelled due to varios problems of the responsibles for that
concert. After the song Dance With Me, Marian was joking: "What we are
going to play now is a completely unknown song and we are very sorry to
play this song for you". Of course, he meant "Forever Young". He let the
audience to sing the first chorus. I think the audience were just waiting
for this song to be played but they were in the best mood during "Wishful
Thinking" was played. Then AV left the stage. After a few minutes
they came back and started to play additional songs:
Jerusalem
Jet Set
Big In Japan
While "Big In Japan"
was played, Marian was making some photos of the band members, himself
and the audience and threw his camera into the middle of the first row.
The concert was finished with the song "When The Audience Is Listening"
that was played after the second comeback. In my opinion all the instruments
sounded quite good during the show but the guitar played a little bit too
loudly. As usual after some concerts musicians used to give some autograms
but in this case nothing like that. I wish AV would play soon another such
a fantastic concert in Slovakia.
