I was born on the 22nd of September 1972 in Wriezen, only 1,58 m tall, with dark hair and brown colored eyes. After the 10th class of the school I took my apprenticeship as drawer for construction draws in Frankfurt/Oder. Immediately after I had another qualification for one year. I learnt using computers. Since then I'm working in a big building-firm in Wriezen. In 1994 my friend and me got our own flat in Neuhardenberg. The place is not what we imagined but it was the fastest way to get a flat.
But now my Alphaville-story:
It started in the summer of 1985. My brother
doubled the first album "Forever young" on a cassette. (the sister of his
friend had a friend who bought the album in Hungary...that was quite normal
in the gone GDR) I've heard it daily and liked it more day by day. At that
time there was still the radiostation DT64. There was a radio-transmission
where sometimes you could hear import-albums. And one day there was a transmission
with Alphavilles "Forever Young". Naturally we saved it on a tape. Later
we also heard "Afternoons in Utopia" there even with an interview. In 1989
we also recorded "The breathtaking blue". Then, with the political change
my brother could let his dream come true and bought all the records, Maxis,
Singles... To say the truth, I'm also a fan of Nik Kershaw and my brother
was the virtual Alphaville Fan.
But in July 1990 something worst happened:
our rooftruss burned down and my brother died in the flames (one week before
he partied his 20th birthday...his valediction. Nothing endured
the fire, no poster, no records. The time was hard for me
After some months I bought again
"Forever Young" and "Afternoons in Utopia", but I wasn't able to listen
to it. After a while it became easier but new albums I wanted not to hear.
I though anyway that's not right that I know the new songs and he didn't
(for instance "Prostitute"), because originally he was the big fan, not
me.
Once in a morning I drove to work
as I usually do it and saw the placard at the advertisement pillar: "See
Alphaville live"...nearly I would be fallen from the seat of my car. I
was so excited...there still was this one theme...
At once I called the advance booking
and got knowledge that the ticket costs 26 DM. I thought that couldn't
be...I would pay 200 DM to see them!!!
Then the message from displacing the concert
came. My only thought was now everything is over. At once I informed me
at advance booking what's wrong and they said they had to displace the
concert because of working at the new album. Aah!!! We had a short conservation
about the advance sale and he said that the tickets go very well. Many
people called that's why even a fan from Israel. For me it was unbelievable
that fans came from so far away only to see Alphaville. Now I bought "Prostitute"
because I wanted to can sing the new songs, too. At the 6th
of December the dream came true. I saw Alphaville! It's not easy to describe
what I felt. As we (my boyfriend, my best girlfriend and her boyfriend
and me) arrived at the Stadthalle and I saw all the cars - also a little
one with sign Alphaville Fanclub- I got a heebie- jeebies. I was near to
scream in joy that so many people like this music, but there was sadness
too. We had to wait a while outside before we could entered the hall. I
rested at the merchandisingtable, looked at all, bought the CD of "The
breathtaking blue" (I only had the tape until) and talked a lot. It was
just so beautiful. I returned just from the toilet (I was so excitedt!)
and saw somebody I took for Bernhard Lloyd. I stared at him and thought
yes he looks like Bernhard Lloyd. And I stared and stared and stared...
I went back to my friends (they stood near
the entrance)and told them that I thought to saw Bernhard. Somebody unknown
said "That's impossible. I just saw him come in. He bought a ticket." Okay
so I thought it must be just someone very look alike. The concert started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At first the stage vanished in fog
and I became more excited and nervous. In only some seconds I'll see them...and
then I heard "Fools"...oh my God. I saw Marian. It was quite lunacies,
unbelievable. I sang, screamed, applauded...then they played "A victory
of love" -one of my favourite songs- it was so beautiful. With some songs
a became more calm and looked up Marian. I recognized that he also became
older and a bit paunchy. But that's normal I don't know if I was awaiting
him like at the photos in my mind older than 10 years. And I was also surprised
that their songs were so heavy in the live version. Sometimes I couldn't
recognize a song at once. At first I thought the man on the guitar right
next Marian would be Ricky and Bernhard would be the one I couldn't see
in the backround behind the loudspeaker. But later I learnt that were only
guest musicians. And I asked myself where are Ricky and Bernhard? From
time to time I turned my head to look at the guests in the hall. I wanted
to see if they enjoyed themselves and the show. But I took only short views
because I wanted not miss what was happened on the stage. I recognized
that the audience wasn't so active only songs like "Sounds like a melody",
"Big in Japan" or "Jerusalem" decoyed them from their reserve. Than Marian
said." Now we want to play a different song and you all must help me"...I
was sure now "Forever Young" will followed. And it was so delightful as
all the masses sang with him. After Marian and band left the stage. Should
that be the end??? No, after encore-callings they returned fortunately...and
Marian sang again two or three songs before they left ultimate.
Now the concert was over. I called
one or two times more for another encore, but all the other people just
went off. I couldn't understand them. Sweaty I went down to the stage,
'cos I wanted to know where Bernhard and Ricky were. And I wanted some
autographs ! I asked somebody who was working on the stage where they were
and he said to me: "Bernhard is there". I asked again "where?" and he motioned
to a point in the middle of the hall near the place of the soundmixer and
then I saw him....Bernhard...and it was really the one I saw as I returned
from the toilet. I went to him -a little bit wonky and flutteringly- and
asked for an autograph, but he had no pencil. I procured a pencil and went
back to him. As he asked me for my name I had to consider a second than
I said "Diana" and he wrote "from Alphaville with love for Diana from Bernhard
Lloyd" Simply craziness!!! I told him that I like the first two albums
especially and he said :" than you must here the new album" To my question
why he wasn't on stage at the show he answered because of personal reasons
he couldn't take part at the preparation for the show and he's only here
because he's living quite near...he reversed (anyway I felt he's arrogant
and I was a little bit disappointed)
I went back to the merchandisingtable
and had again a conservation. I said to Ralf and Bianka that my greatest
wish would be to get also an autograph from Marian. And Ralf brought me
this autograph 'cos he could go backstage. I said thank you and admired
him that he can be so close to Marian. But now I had my autograph and went
back to my friends. We rested for a while because I wanted absolutely see
Marian. But we had no luck. My friends wanted not wait any longer so we
left back home. At first I listened to the new CD and looked at the autographs.
Anytime we gone to bed but I couldn't sleep after such an exciting night.
On Monday after this weekend I told
my adventures to the people at my work and showed proudly my CD. But they
didn't understand me, really...
A friend of mine who knew the story
around my brother said, it would be too great if he could live to see that,
too...I agreed him completely...
